Water security crisis management requires European harmonization on addressing the way information is collected and managed at EU level and access to safe water is globally essential for human health and wellbeing.

The management of drinking-water distribution systems is vital to prevent failures that could result in disease outbreaks and hazardous events exacerbated by the impact of climate changes. In this regard, risk mitigation measures to increase the resilience of the systems and secure the well-being of citizens are required, particularly when we refer to drinking water, which is one of the main risk sources for our society.

The aqua3S project combines novel technologies in water safety and security, aiming to standardize existing sensor technologies complemented by state-of-the-art detection mechanisms. In addition, aqua3S proposes innovative solutions to water facilities and responsible authorities to detect and tackle water-related crises in a timely manner.

The project also develops a strategy for the integration of the aqua3S solution into the market based on the standardization of the proposed technologies and the project's secure platform

The aqua3S project, started in September 2019, will phase out in December 2022, is funded by the EU R&I program Horizon 2020 and is coordinated by CERTH. CERTH is one of the leading research centres in Greece, CERTH has important scientific and technological achievements in many areas including: Energy, Environment, Industry, Mechatronics, Information & Communication, Transportation & Sustainable Mobility, Health, Agro-biotechnology, Smart farming, Safety & Security, as well as several cross-disciplinary scientific areas.

This webinar, co-organised with Water Europe, intends to show and share at large the results of the project across its implementation, the experience of the encountered challenges and opportunities, and provide the perspectives of the deployment of the aqua3S solutions and their market uptake.
